CECIL RAY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Cecil Ray Scholarship, Inc. is a local nonprofit that has provided tuition scholarships and financial assistance for students attending the Emma L Minnis Jr Academy (ELMJA).
SCHOLARSHIP HISTORY
The Cecil Ray Scholarship began in 1996. This scholarship was the brainchild of Sister Ruth Ray, a Magazine St. SDA Church member. Mrs. Ray, inspired by her friends of the Women’s Auxiliary of the National Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, founded the scholarship in memory of her husband, Cecil. It has continued through her death. To this day, the scholarship is still supported by one of the Women’s Auxiliary members.
The Mission:
To stimulate the increasing enrollment of students at the Emma L Minnis Jr. Academy. Its purpose is to collect and distribute voluntary contributions in the form of one-month tuition awards, and limited financial assistance to students that encounter emergencies in the school year, and to fund an endowment for future scholarships.
